FAQ
What is a new cadastral survey?
A new cadastral survey is a procedure by which all plots and objects in an area are re-measured and recorded, in order to harmonize cadastral and land registry data with the actual situation on the ground.
Why is a new survey being conducted?
Because the data in the cadastre is often outdated, inaccurate or inconsistent with the ownership status. The new survey brings order, legal certainty and clear boundaries.
Who is responsible for carrying out the survey?
Surveys are carried out by authorized geodetic companies in cooperation with the State Geodetic Administration (SGA) and local governments.
Do I have to do anything as the owner?
Yes, they will invite you to view data and limits. It is important that you respond to the invitation, check the information and, if necessary, express your remarks.
Will my ownership or the area of the plot change?
Ownership cannot be taken away. However, surface corrections are possible if inaccuracies are found in old data or disputes with other owners.
How long does a new cadastral survey take?
Depending on the size of the area, the survey can last from several months to several years – it includes field measurements, data processing and presentation of the results.
Do I have to pay for the survey?
For citizens, the survey is usually free of charge because it is financed from the state budget, EU funds or local sources. Possible disputes or subsequent appeals may incur additional costs.
Can I now edit the registration of a house or boundaries that have not been drawn up until now?
Yes, the new survey is an ideal opportunity to finally reconcile the actual situation on the ground with official data.
What if I disagree with the new information?
You have the right to object and a disclosure procedure where all data is publicly displayed. If the dispute is not resolved by agreement, it can go to court.
Will I receive a new title deed or extract?
Yes, after the survey is completed, the cadastre and land registry are updated, and you can request a new extract with updated data.
